Bible Verses for Protection Against Witchcraft
The Bible is explicit about witchcraft and what happens to those who cast spells, sorcery and necromancy. God, through Christ, protects true believers from such wickedness. But we live in a world where Satan pervades in subtle and sneaky ways. With all that’s put before us on a daily basis, it is easy to find ourselves led astray.
This collection of Bible verses for protection against witchcraft invites the light and protection of the Lord into your life. They focus on protection and bravery against the wickedness of others.

And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
This particular passage discusses being saved, protected and kept from “unreasonable and wicked men” through faith and belief in God’s almighty, omniscient power.
Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Psalm 27:1-3 (David’s Psalm)
The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
This psalm discusses questioning who and what to fear when one accepts God as their “light and salvation.” He is strength in the face of enemies and foes when they seek to destroy such a believer. Even in the face of war, the faithful can remain confident against fear and not hold it in their hearts.
Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more tellers of fortunes;
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
These 11 lines are what all Christians should hold in their hearts and minds in the face of fear and adversity. God is our refuge, fortress and protector from the “snare of the fowler,” pestilence and danger at night. Here, we are told, we receive strength and power because of our faith in God’s unending Love.
He guards us against ill will by the light of day, even when it happens to other people around us. No harm will come to us. For those who can see, the “reward of the wicked” will become clear. In understanding that truth, we will be free of evil and plague via the angels he sends to watch over us.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
For they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
Because we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, again and again—but Satan hindered us.
Who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish,
Or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead,
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.
Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
But the magicians did the same by their secret arts and made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,
For nothing will be impossible with God.”
The magicians tried by their secret arts to produce gnats, but they could not. So there were gnats on man and beast.
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Verses Against Witchcraft
When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
This verse defines avoiding people who tell you to seek those with “familiar spirits,” along with wizards who perform necromancy for guidance in life. When you seek solace, look to God, not the dead.
Anyone who denies the Word of God will perish in brimstone and fire. This includes idolaters, sorcerers, murderers, prostitutes, liars and other deplorable characters.
We are warned against performing child sacrifice, divination, enchantments and witchcraft along with charms, wizardry and necromancy. Our Heavenly Father finds these things abominable and He will drive such people away from our sight.
2 Kings 21:6
This verse, although speaking of Manasseh, is another dire warning against committing the ultimate sin of child sacrifice, performing enchantments, dealing with familiar spirits, and working wizardry. Manasseh serves as an example of how such work provokes God’s wrath.
And yet another passage commanding us to dissociate ourselves from those who have familiar spirits, that we shouldn’t look for company with wizards. This is because we be “defiled by them.”
A few lines later, we’re told what happens to souls who turn to seek people who dabble in wizardry and familiar spirits. God will cut them off from his people and exile him to suffering and woe.
This is an instructional verse about anyone, man or woman, who is a wizard or cavorts with familiar spirits, should die by stoning.

Replace Hate with Love
Being fearless in our knowledge of His guardianship and appreciating the gift of sacrificing his only Son will provide the armor, sword and shield necessary against any spell or witchcraft works. This includes the belief in the existence of hatred.
For instance, gossiping about someone you believe hates you perpetuates the existence of hatred on earth (Proverbs 12:17-22). This extends to putting trust in a leader, no matter if they’re political, religious or medical. Those who proclaim they will “save” us from danger can be Satan’s sneaky way of slithering his works into our lives to allow hatred to fester (Psalm 18:8-9).
Your Faith Is Your Protection
So long as you abide by God’s Word (Ecclesiastes 8:5), the 10 Commandments (Proverbs 1:33-34) and Jesus’s teachings as laid out in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, your protection against evil is unwavering (I John 5:18).
Knowing what the Bible says about both witchcraft and protection from sorcery will help us better arm ourselves to remove the fear and hatred that allows evil to take root. Also, remember that Lucifer is jealous of humankind because what’s in us is greater (I John 4:4).
Ergo, if you don’t hold hate in your heart, you cannot be evil or be susceptible to witchcraft, sorcery, wizardry and other acts of wickedness. When you infuse love into every aspect of your being, you mitigate witchcraft, helping it fade into nothingness (I Corinthians 13:4-7).
Because witchcraft is a human activity, evil spells have no connection to, the intelligence from or power of the Heavenly Father. He is the Divine Mind, Divine Love and the source of all that is real. As long as humankind has faith, witchcraft has no firm standing.
The wicked derive their power from the Lord of this World, which isn’t God, but Lucifer. It was given to him upon being driven out of the Halls of Heaven (2 Corinthians 4:4). But what deters Lucifer and his minions is the nullification of fear and hate by way of laughter and love (I John 4:18).
It’s not denying Lucifer’s existence, it’s the allowance of our fear of him, more than God, that allows his presence to take root and control humankind. When we tell him to go away, get out of here and make him unwelcome, his power withers away along with those who follow him.
We are to do as Jesus said to Peter when he wanted to protect the Master from harm by the rabbis of the San Hedron. “Get thee behind me, Satan!” When we do not allow ourselves to be tempted by fear and deny shying away from confrontation against those committing affronts to God, this is the ultimate victory over evil.
